The development of your baby –
It is very interesting how your baby tries to get used to the rapid changes inside the body. By the seventh week, the umbilical cord that attaches the mother with her baby is formed. The baby will now be connected with you and it is via this cord that oxygen and food will be passed on to your child. It is also through this cord that the waste of your baby will be carried out. Even now the digestive system and the respiratory system of the baby are continuing to grow. Even though you might be growing more and more impatient about wanting to know what you baby looks like, you will have to wait a while before you can see him in real but you should feel relieved to know that your baby’s face is beginning to take shape. The sensory organs like the eyes, ears, nose and mouth begin to grow more prominent in the seventh week. Also the limbs that looked like only buds last week already have a less defined arm and feet at the end of it.
The development of your body –
Even though you are changing along with your baby, your changes are taking place at a slightly slower rate as compared to your baby’s. You continue to experience the same things you were last week. But this week specifically, you will notice changes in your cervix. In this week you will notice a mucous plug developing in the opening of your cervical canal this happens so that the canal is sealed off and the uterus is well protected. Later this plug will be gone when your cervix will begin to dilate preparing for delivery.
