The development of your baby –
By the end of this week your baby will have gained as much weight as 6 pounds and above, approximately 3000 gm and it would have grown pretty much in length as well – 13.5 inches in length from crown to rump only. The rate of growth becomes slower now even though fat is still developing on the baby. You will realize that you do not feel as though you are putting on immense weight either anymore. The weight either remains the same or begins to fall sometimes. Since your child holds the muscles that allow him to swallow amniotic fluid, waste material has naturally been accumulating in his intestine as the amniotic fluid also carries the waste of the child. This waste would also include shed off cells from the intestinal walls, the dead skin of these cells also as well as lanugo hair that keep falling off as the baby continues to grow. These together get accumulated to form meconium, a substance that looks green black and helps as the first components of your baby’s bowel movements.
If your baby is going to be a boy child, his testes should have grown into scrotum by now unless he is suffering from undecided scrotum which actually qualifies as an abnormality. If your child is however a girl child, the labia of the baby are already formed.
The development of your body –
This week you will have to visit the washroom too often as urinating much more than before becomes a compulsion since your baby is pressing against your bladder while it is located in your pelvis. This week you should get down with your partner to discuss if you would be circumcising the new born or no. circumcision is a surgery that is carried out to rid the penis off the foreskin in male babies. Some parents may want to perform this act on religious grounds, mostly those following Islam. Others would find it pretty difficult to decide. Ask your doctor about the pros and cons of circumcision as well as the measures that can be adopted by the baby to relieve pain.
