The development of your baby –
This is the mid point of your pregnancy and you have reached the half way of your journey. This is the twentieth week of your pregnancy and your baby is no more a small cell but has grown into a significant human shape. It probably weighs 312 gm by now and should measure 16 cm from crown to the rump. It is beginning to fill up your uterus and since this is not the full size of the baby, further growth will begin to put sufficient pressure on your own organs like the bladder, lungs, kidneys etc. Hair and nails keep growing on your baby and while it is coated in the protective waxy layer, the baby’s skin is continuing to thicken and develop.
The development of your body –
You should have had an ultrasound by now but if you have not, then this is when your doctor will insist that you go through one. An ultrasound is a diagnostic test that with the help of sound waves creates images of your baby. This test helps to determine the size and position of your fetus and is very important in the case of complications that might unexpectedly arise during your pregnancy. This also brings to the front if there are any abnormalities of the organs and bones in the baby. If the baby is positioned rightly in the uterus then the sex of the child should also be determined by now. This test is so diversified that with it, the placenta, amniotic fluid as well as the umbilical cord can be tested. This is an important test and you have to go through it in most cases, yet ensure you have discussed the pros and cons of it with your health care expert from before.
