Signs and symptoms of week 17 pregnancy

The development of your baby –
This week your baby will weigh about 140 gm and be around 13 cm in length from the top of the crown to the base of the rump. However it is still very small and has a long way to go before you carry him in your arms. The placenta is consistently and constantly growing to help and accommodate the baby. It still carries on providing the baby with oxygen and food particles and also helps in removing the waste products. The placenta now comprises of a few thousands of blood vessels that help to perform these tasks (carrying food and oxygen to the baby and waste materials away from the baby).

The development of your body –
From the start of your pregnancy you obviously have been noticing changes in your body. By this time your breasts will significantly feel a lot more different from the time your pregnancy began. They are getting prepared to breast feed your baby and hormones are helping to develop towards that purpose. The glands are growing everyday to help produce milk and more and more blood is rushing to your breasts to help your glands function thoroughly. Hence you might notice your breasts feel larger by maybe a cup or two sizes. The veins over the surface of your breasts become visible. The best thing to do during this period is to buy a variety of bras to help support your breasts as they will continuously be growing
