The development of your baby –
At this point of time in your pregnancy, your baby is just not a mass of cells but has started to take up a certain form now. The neural tube runs from the top to the bottom of the embryo. This will eventually grow into becoming the brain and the spinal cord. The center of the embryo will develop a bulge which will eventually grow into becoming your baby’s heart. Suring these period, the placenta too develops and it is through the chorionic villi or the fingerlike projections on the placenta that help to bring food and blood to the baby and take away waste products from the baby. The placenta is the connector between the mother and the growing baby inside her womb.
The development of your body –
When you are pregnant and in your fifth week you will want to stay away from certain food products. Listeriosis and toxoplasmosis are some of the foodbourne illnesses that might pose a threat to the well being of your baby as there are chances that your baby will either grow unhealthy or you might even suffer a miscarriage. Listed here are some of the food products you would want to avoid – juices and milk that is not pasteurized, the different kinds of cheese such as soft cheese and blue cheese, uncooked raw meats including deli and hot dogs, uncooked shellfish, mousse and other food products made from raw or semi raw eggs and the like. If you are petting cats, then you must know that toxoplasmosis can also be the result of spread from cat litter boxes. Thus during your pregnancy there should be somebody else doing the cleaning up for your pets.
