The development of your baby –Calcium is as important for babies as it is for adults. Calcium is the main component of bones in the human body and just as how you will have to give you child calcium doses once it is born, you have to give your fetus calcium doses even while it is growing inside you. Thus you will have to consume a lot of calcium while you a pregnant so your baby can draw enough calcium from you for the purpose of hardening his bones. It is actually rather risky for the mother if she does not take enough calcium during this period, as the baby will keep absorbing calcium from the mother’s skeletal structure as and when it feels the need to do so if the baby is not provided with the calcium it needs voluntarily by the mother.
The vernix layer on the baby’s skin is growing thicker while the lanugo hair is completely missing by now. By this week, most babies would have taken their position for delivery. Your doctor would also be able to tell you if the baby would be coming out head first or bottom first. The lungs of the baby by now are fairly well developed and the baby weighs up to 5 pounds and is approximately 12 and a half inches in length from crown to rump. If the baby is prematurely delivered just away, it would be able to survive even without extensive medical intervention.
The development of your body –During the later stages of your pregnancy, you would feel tremendously fatigued. You would also during this time find some difficulty in sleeping, experience pains and body aches, gain too much of weight, feel some anxiety and stress, get worried about labour and start feeling pressurized about figuring how you would take care of your new born. Try and rest even though you would find it difficult. Little naps help to relieve stress. Also they say a child is like how a mother is during pregnancy, so maybe you reading books to help distract yourself from these unnecessary worries would cause your child to be a book worm to!
