The development of your baby –
This is the first week of your third trimester in pregnancy. Now your baby will look a lot like what he would look during delivery, just that it is slightly thinner and smaller than it would be in the following weeks. Some of the organs like the liver, lungs and immune system are still developing but if your baby is born just now prematurely, it stands very good chances of surviving. Your child’s hearing capabilities are still maturing but by now your baby can recognize both the voices of the mother and the father if you two talk to him much. The ears are covered with vernix, (the creamy protective layer that keeps the baby from getting chapped by the amniotic fluid) still and thus sounds traveling to the baby might sound muffled but this will naturally be sorted by the time the baby gets delivered.
The development of your body –
Your body naturally and instinctively helps your baby to grow and develop by providing it with nourishment and air. It also keeps it from receiving external damage. But how to take care of your new born is again a skill that you get better at the more time you spend with it. That is why generally you will feel your second child is better taken care of than the first because the first time you were still learning. Enroll yourself for a childbirth class with the help of your doctor or relatives. These classes will teach you much about labour, ways to relieve pain, the changes you can see after delivery, the new problems the baby may face, suggestions about baby proofing, how to breastfeed and other options of feeding your baby, how to give a CPR if your child is in an emergency and the like. If you are a first time mother, equipping yourself with all the knowledge you can about babies and giving birth is the best thing you can do.
