The development of your baby
Your baby is beginning to develop fat on his body but his skin would still hang loosely around him and he looks wrinkled still. This fat helps to keep your baby warm as and when he is delivered and does not have his mother’s warmth to keep him heated anymore. You will start feeling forced movements inside because now your baby would in a routine manner start to move his muscles, fingers, toes, arms and legs. By now your baby is heavier than before weighing a little more than 1 pound maybe. If your baby was to be born prematurely at around this time, with expert medical aid, it would be able to survive even though it may for the rest of its life suffer from slightly minor or very drastic disabilities. Preemies which is the long term prognosis for premature babies improves every year with the development and increasing research in the field of fetal medicine.

The development of your body

Sleeping becomes a problem the closer you approach your date of delivery. Heartburn, cramps in the leg, wanting to urinate too often, experiencing anxiety and general discomfort can cause short sleep hours in the night for expecting mothers. But remember you will have to adjust and ensure you get enough sleep as both your health and your baby’s health depends on adequate amount of sleep. Bathing in warm water before you go to bed, listening to soothing music, reading a book, drinking fluids helps to gain you sleep and get you in the groove to rest. Many doctors are of the opinion that pregnant women should not sleep on the back or the stomach as that might restrict the flow of blood to the placenta. Instead it is best suited if they sleep on their sides. If you are not accustomed to sleeping on the side, try using a pillow in between your legs to help reduce the pressure of your weight while you are laying side ways.
