The development of your baby –
During the course of this week, the ears of the baby take their final positions and distinctly get separated from the head. You should start revising your lullabies now because in the following weeks you will be able to sing them to your baby knowing that they can hear you from the inside. The baby can already hear the sound of your heartbeat and blood traveling through the umbilical cord in your body as the basic bone structure and nerve endings have grown rather well for the baby by now. There are chances that your baby will get startled by loud sounds. Your baby’s eyes have now developed such that they are facing forward and not sideward anymore. If you light a torch against your abdomen, the retina of these developing eyes will probably be able to detect the light. Your baby’s bones were still cartilaginous till now, soft and tender. This week they will begin to get tougher and harder. The first few bones to ossify which is the hardening of the bones are the clavicles in the leg of the baby.

The development of your body –
This is when you do not only focus on decorating your baby’s nursery but think and plan beyond it. You must start planning who the pediatrician and other health experts for your new baby will be. Post the delivery there are a lot of things that you will constantly need to keep checking with doctors about your baby’s health. You must start visiting different doctors to know who is best suited for your needs. Pick somebody who will willingly give you appointments and be readily available. Make sure you discuss the basic vaccines and immunizations with them and the time that you need to bring your baby in for these obligations to be met. Find out why and how these vaccines are given to children and to what effect they help.

Here are some questions you might keep in mind while visiting doctors – how many health care experts are available? Who would be available at odd hours (nights and weekends)? Would they recommend advice over the phone? Which institutions they are affiliated with? Whether they are acceptable of insurances? What are their specialized fields? What is done in situations of emergency? You must strike a connection or rapport with your child’s doctor so it is useful in the future. Do a good survey and taken your final call wisely.
