Now that you are pregnant, you are responsible not only for your own health but also that of your baby’s. It is time your fine tuned your diet so that a well balanced spread of nutrition is provided to your body from which your baby will benefit too. You will also have to increase the intake of certain vitamins, calories and minerals. During this phase try to keep your intake of junk food minimalist as it gives your body barely any nutrition except some unhealthy calories. Even though everybody would be forcing you to consume extra calories, for the first 6 months of your pregnancy the calories are not required. But during the first trimester make sure you have a good amount of folic acid as that helps to keep your child’s neural development healthy. For the last 3 months on your pregnancy you would be needed to take in 200 extra calories per day and this is pretty easy. 200 calories is contained in only 2 breads without butter, a bowl of curry or pulses and some potatoes. So if you indulge in eating a yummy continental meal a day, your 200 extra calories are naturally consumed!
You are the best one to decide how much and what you should eat though make sure whatever you eat is healthy. Your appetite does tend to fluctuate while you are pregnant. Sometimes you get pangs of eating without being able to satiate your hunger and other times you barely feel like eating at all. Do not force yourself to eat when you do not want to as that might worsen the state of nausea for you, but keep in mind that you have a baby inside who would want to eat even though you do not feel like it. Also the best way to evade morning sickness is to have frequent but small sized meals instead of huge meals after long periods.
Your body is in need of a well balanced diet just now so make sure you do not leave your body deprived of these needs. Listed here are the important things you should make sure are a part of your daily diet – milk which you can get through yogurt, cheese, butter, chocolates and any other dairy product, cereals that will give you much protein, vegetables will give your body the right amount of vitamins, minerals and fibers, fresh fruits that are again a very good source of vitamins, meat which poultry and fish will give to you, fluids help to cleanse your system of all the filth and keeps your fresh, try to avoid fats though as they could prove to be not as healthy as the other nutrients, at least while you are pregnant.
However some food products are absolutely restricted from your diet while you are pregnant. These would include raw sea food, unpasteurised milk, uncooked meat which would also include frozen meat, liver products, varieties of nuts if anybody in the family is allergic to any nut or dry fruit in particular, alcohol, smoke, excess caffeine and anything that can be a potential threat to the development of the baby in your womb.
